WHAT UNBUILT IS

Unbuilt is a ledger of unmet demand. It listens to the public Bluesky firehose, finds posts where someone wishes a product, tool, or service existed, and turns each one into a structured, generalized, anonymized signal. The goal is simple: make visible the things people keep asking for that nobody has built yet.

WHAT WE CAPTURE

We capture posts that express a genuine, category-level gap — “why isn’t there an app that…,” “I wish there were a tool for…,” “I’d pay for something that…” For each, we keep the post text, its language, its timestamp, and the parent post when it’s a reply, then classify it for how genuine and buildable the need is.

THE WISH, NEVER THE WISHER

On the public ledger we never display author handles, names, or profiles. Signals are shown in generalized, anonymized form — written so they could have come from any of hundreds of people with the same problem. We do keep a reference to the original public post, and author attribution may be made available to verified users under future plans; it is simply never exposed on the open ledger.

WHAT WE LEAVE OUT

Unbuilt is a general-audience product-discovery ledger. Sexually explicit, pornographic, and adult content is out of scope and is filtered out at capture — it isn’t classified, stored, or displayed. We also filter spam, pure venting with no underlying need, jokes, and posts about products that already exist.

ZERO TOLERANCE: CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE

We have zero tolerance for the sexual exploitation of children. Any content that sexualizes a minor in any form is blocked from capture and permanently excluded — there is no version of this we treat as a “signal.” This is the one line we state without qualification.

If you encounter material on Bluesky that sexually exploits a child, report it to the platform and to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) at report.cybertip.org.

WHAT WE STAND AGAINST

Unbuilt has a point of view. We stand against:

The exploitation of people. Above all the sexualization of children, but more broadly: no one’s vulnerability is raw material. We surface needs to get things built, not to prey on the people who voiced them.

Surveillance dressed as insight. The public ledger shows the wish, not the wisher, and we will never enable harassment, doxxing, or mass-targeting of the people behind these posts. Any attribution offered under future plans stays limited and purpose-bound — connecting builders with real demand, never a list to spam.

Engagement bait. Manufactured outrage and noise are the opposite of a genuine need. We’re listening for the quiet “why doesn’t this exist,” not the loudest take of the day.

Spam, scams, and astroturf. Manufactured demand isn’t demand. Signals exist to point at real problems worth solving — not to sell, mislead, or pad a number.

HOW THE FILTERING WORKS

Filtering is automated. A language-model classifier judges what each post is genuinely about, backed by a keyword check for the most unambiguous cases. Automated judgment is imperfect — it can occasionally miss something or set it aside in error. If you spot something that shouldn’t be here, tell us.
